Counterfeiting and product tampering are increasing at an alarming rate, and digital technology has made it easier to duplicate product packaging and their labels. Materials that provide anti-tamper, anti-counterfeit, anti-theft, and brand security have gained increased awareness. Billions of dollars are lost annually to counterfeiting.
Whether it is the film industry or videotapes or CD counterfeiting it is estimated that hundreds of millions of dollars are lost in revenue. Counterfeit and imitation is rampant in the automobile industry replacement parts, Clothing, cigarettes, handbags, watches, sunglasses, perfumes, liquor and wine, and, increasingly, pharmaceuticals, often are counterfeited. There is a huge value of lost sales to the rightful “brand owner.” Governments also lose tax revenue and add to that consumer dissatisfaction with the inferior quality of counterfeit goods, which are passed off as the real thing. In our “branded” society, it is essential to ensure you're getting and paying for the original product because counterfeit products can be harmful and can create threats to consumer safety.
Weldon Celloplast Limited, a leading manufacturer of self adhesive label-stocks has produced some innovative self adhesive products in recent years. Weldon has now developed a unique label material “Fasco Tamproof”. The labels can be printed on this material and applied as labels or security seals on products where tamper evidence is necessary. When removed the label will show the word “VOID” on it and will not be hidden even if the label is replaced. We can customize this label to read a company name or logo or any text that one would like to convey, when the label is tampered e.g. “Opened” or “Tampered”. It is a film based label-stock that can be printed on top by different printing processes and die-cut into labels. The adhesive is specially designed and aggressive. It will adhere to most of the surfaces normally required. The laminate has been produced in a manner that labels produced thereof can be automatically dispensed on to the product. Weldon is the first Indian company to have produced this complete laminate including the face material.
